The Gabonese Union for alimentary security (AGASA) proceeded yesterday to the destruction of 30 tons of expired food, at the Alénakiri private dump. The destroyed products that were all judged inconsumable.

Most of the disposed food was meat (pork, beef, chicken, gizzards and chicken thighs) and milk products (yoghurt, butter, cheese).

Those aliments were seized for sanitary causes due to the cold chain rupture. “The cold chain rupture damage the foods. The strong smell and the physical aspect of the products did not give us any choice, it is in the interest of the general public’s health," said an agent.
